Teacher Glenda- Experienced Kindergarten and Phonics Teacher

Meet the Teacher

Greetings! My name is Glenda Teichmer. I am a dedicated educator with 28 years of experience, specializing in early childhood and elementary education. I hold degrees in Psychology and El Ed. (prek-6) from Nazareth College of Rochester. In addition, I've secured Highly Qualified and SEI credentials from the State of Arizona. My specialized training in literacy development and Structured English Immersion, allowed me to, year over year, reclassify 90% of my Latino scholars who spoke no English to those who were English proficient within one school year. Moreover, I have a unique gift for teaching reading. Each year, the average Kinder student in my class, by the end of the year, read on grade levels 1.5-2nd grades. Tracking those same students through 1st grade showed consistent growth well beyond grade 2. Kinder is the most important year.

As a proud mother, grandmother, and wife, my personal and professional life is shaped by my deep commitment to nurturing growth and fostering a love for learning in my students. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of teaching in public, private, and charter schools, serving diverse communities.

Now, I am the Founder and Chief Educational Officer (CEO) of Brick House Reading and the creator of Kick-Start Phonics, our signature, research-based curriculum (still in development), which is designed to build strong reading foundations for children 4-7 years old.

My experience extends beyond the classroom. I served as literacy specialist and education-disabilities coordinator for the preschool programs of two major nonprofit organizations.

Additionally, I worked as mentor teacher for various grade levels, supporting colleagues in classroom management, testing modifications, RTI intervention strategies, classroom design and structured literacy approaches.

While my experience in education has been extensive, teaching kindergarten is where I discovered my true calling. The remarkable progress of early learners continues to fuel my passion. Having said that, I am committed to providing the highest quality instruction through our on-line classroom experience.

My instructional approach is to provide engaging, systematic, structured, yet hands-on, multi-sensory learning experiences that are rooted in the science of reading.

Moreover, I have authored and self-published multiple children’s songs that support the curriculum, two instructional workbooks and children's literature that support academic learning. I frequently write and incorporate music to teach educational content in a fun way!

For me, the classroom is not just a place of learning; it is a home where students experience a sense of well-being, and teachers thrive because they are just where they want to be. I plan to create the same warm, loving atmosphere in our online learning space.

I hope to see you online!

All my best,

Glenda Teichmer
